Having traded for over 20 years, B&Q Dearne Valley DIY store and garden centre is one of the area’s mainstays. Its vast product range includes countless tools, fixtures and fittings, plumbing and electrical accessories, and decorating supplies. You’ll also find high quality kitchens, bathrooms and furniture, plus planters, water features, parasols and more for your garden. Other services include a domestic key cutting facility, gas bottle refills and van hire.

The Dearne Valley consists of multiple towns and villages south of Barnsley. The region is best known for its coal mining history. In fact, Cortonwood Retail Park where B&Q is based, sits on the site of its namesake colliery which closed in 1985. Dearne Valley is also home to nature reserves, golf courses, leisure centres and heritage attractions. These facilities and its central point between Barnsley and Rotherham, make it popular with commuters.

How do you find the store?

By car

B&Q Dearne Valley is situated just 4.4 miles from the M1, providing good access from north and south. Leave the motorway at Junction 36 and take the A6195 towards Doncaster. You can also follow the brown signs for Old Moor RSPB. After 4 miles, you’ll reach Cortonwood Roundabout. Go straight over to the retail park and find B&Q in the back right-hand corner.

By train

The nearest train station is at Wombwell – 1.5 miles away – with links to Barnsley, Sheffield, Nottingham and more. To get to B&Q, leave the station and walk 5 minutes to Wood Walk/ Dovecliffe Rd bus stop, just off Hough Lane. From here, take the 67a/ 67c to the retail park.

By bus

67a and 67c bus services connect several surrounding towns and villages to the retail park. From Hoyland high street, catch either 67 service or the no. 72. From Barnsley, it’s quicker to catch the 22X to Knollbeck Lane/ Brierlow Close, then walk 10 minutes to B&Q.
