When frost risk has passed, gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days. Plant out in well-drained soil in sunny borders. Alternatively, grow in containers using good quality compost such as John Innes No.2.Feed and water regularly throughout growing season. Deadhead faded flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. In autumn, move container-grown plants to a bright frost free position and reduce watering. In spring, prune back stems to within an inch of the previous year’s growth.
