Product Information

This emulsion paint is suitable for and covers up to 13 m² per litre on average.

Features and Benefits

This matt emulsion will make your room light and more spacious. Its patented LumiTec formulation works with light-reflective particles to reflect up to twice as much light back into your room, when compared to regular emulsion paints. At B&Q we want you to be satisfied with your colour selection. Not all monitors will display colours the same and paint tins may not show the same colour as your walls do in natural light. We therefore recommend you order a tester pot online or pop in store to pick one up so you are sure that this is the right colour for you.

  • Control air pollutants by choosing products with lower solvent levels

Questions to ask before you begin

Which room in the house are you painting?

What goes on in the room you are planning to paint? Maybe you are painting a kitchen or bathroom that would benefit from a moisture-resistant paint. Some rooms might need an extra hard-wearing paint which can be wiped down and cleaned such as hallways, landings or kid’s bedrooms. Finding the right paint isn’t just about which colour you pick. We have different types of paint designed for use in different rooms. By choosing the paint that is specially designed for the type of room you are painting, you will get the best end result.

What type of surface are you painting?

There are different types of paint for different surface materials. As well as a comprehensive selection of emulsion paints for walls and ceilings, we have a wide range of specialist paint including ones that are designed for wood furniture, brick walls, and tiles. Choosing the right paint for the right material will ensure a longer-lasting result and the best coverage.

What kind of look are you going for?

Maybe your home has quite a traditional look and would suit a subtle, matt effect paint. Or perhaps you have a more contemporary style that would look great with a satin or metallic finish paint. When selecting paint, think about what you want the final look to be, so that you can choose the correct finish as well as the right colour.

How much time do you have to complete your decorating project?

If you need to get your painting job done quickly, we have a wide range of quick-drying options that will help you get a whole room decorated in a few hours. We have quick dry wall paint, primers, and wood and metal paint to help you make the most of your time whatever you are painting.

What state is the surface in?

Some of our interior paints can be applied directly to the surface. Others may require a bit of preparation before you can begin painting. Perhaps you are painting a freshly plastered surface or previously untreated wood, or maybe you need to fill in some holes or sand down an uneven surface. We have paints and primers for all sorts of surfaces that will help you achieve a nice, even finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy painting very light colour, easy to put on. Over white one coat was enough.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but expensive! "Easy to apply by brush and roller. I used this in a dark hallway and although it is definitely brighter Dulux’s claim that it 'reflects up to twice as much light back into the room' seems rather optimistic! Essentially the colours in the Light & Space range are white with a hint of colour and I suspect this has as much to do with making the room brighter than whatever Dulux’s ‘LumiTec Formulation’ is! The covering power isn't great; It took 4 coats over a pale green background to get even coverage! Relatively expensive compared to conventional emulsion so I question whether the marginal benefit is worth the extra cost. Definitely would buy again but only when on offer at a price similar to normal emulsion.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor opacity. Bad finish. High cost. Start with the good points: it has made our Hall landing and stairs brighter than the horrible orange wallpaper before it. However, not sure that is due the "special" light and space paint, which is obviously a marketing gimmick. I'm sure any light paint would have done the job in hindsight. We have applied the pain over both new and old plaster walls. Both received white, thinned primer coats. It goes on the newly plastered walls OK if I'm being generous. After three full coats it gives an acceptable finish and coverage. On the existing plaster walls the coverage is awful. In some places we are on 4 or 5 coats and still goong and it is still a poor finish. Just to show its not our plaster that's the problem, we have a green feature wall over old plaster in the same space and that has applied beautifully. That's was b&q's own emulsion. Would certainly never buy again. If you want to lighten your space buy a brighter light bulb because you will need at least twice as much of this paint as a normal emulsion and it costs more per pot to start with and you end you with a painted finish that always has an appearance of not quite having had enough coats.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ive never reviewed before and the only reason I am is to tell people not to buy this paint. I'm a painter and decorator by trade and I've used a lot of paint in my time but this stuff is rubbish. I'm painting a 2 bedroom flat and the problems ive had with this paint is unreal. The only reson I got this paint was because the client chose it and cause it said it had this lumitec formulation and because I've never used this paint I thought I'd give it a go. Don't get me wrong it looks brighter in the flat but I think any paint would when you put 4 to 5 coats on the walls. The coverage of this paint is shocking Even trying to touch up a blemish takes a lot to cover My advice to people wanting to buy this paint is please don't and if you like a colour in this range I recommend going to the counter and get it mixed,it might cost £4 more but it will only take a couple of coats instead of 4.
