Product information
Gooseberry Giggles Red is a gorgeous plant that you can grow in your nursery and will produce amazing medium sized berries for you to snack on at your leisure! They come as 9cm potted plants for you to dig a hole in your garden and grow your own!Plant gooseberry bushes in an open sunny position on any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate a generous amount of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Remove any shoots or dormant buds from the base of the plant as these will produce unwanted suckers later on. Goosberries should be planted at a distance of 1.5m (5') apart at their original depth which is indicated by a mark left on the stem by the nursery soil.Product Specifications: Hardy ShrubPosition: Sun or Semi ShadeSupplied as 2x 9cm Potted PlantsDelivered with growing and care instructionsWater well for the first year until plants are fully established. When growing gooseberries, the soil must not dry out during hot periods. Take out all suckers from the base of the plant as they arise. Netting the bushes will help to protect the currants from birds. Harvest some gooseberries for cooking and freezing in May, leaving the remaining fruit to ripen fully in June for eating fresh from the bush.Prune gooseberry plants in winter. Take out dead, damaged and crossing stems, before thinning the left over stems to create an upright open bush. Shorten the left over stems by half. In spring apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the soil. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
