Along with the mistletoe and wine, your greatest ally this Christmas could be a can of Rust-Oleum Metallic spray paint!

This must-have product gives old baubles a new lease of life and can help you to coordinate any old decorations with the rest of the room.

For the dinner table, napkin rings that do not match your colour scheme can be transformed easily with a coat or two of spray paint. Simply lay the rings onto some newspaper, ensuring the surrounding area is protected from any over-spray. Following the instructions on the can, spray them evenly on both sides and leave to dry. Add a coat of Crystal Clear varnish for a longer lasting finish.

If you have any old place-mats/ coasters or find any in a charity shop, they can be made-over with a few coats of metallic spray paint to look very seasonal and expensive! Spray pine cones and add these to a festive bowl for a simple table centre piece. Update an old pair of candlesticks with seasonal red and gold, simply mask off the areas you don’t want to spray with masking tape and spray with your festive colour. When dry remove the masking tape. If spraying with a second colour, mask the first colour with masking tape and spray again. Remove all masking tape when dry.

Rust-Oleum Metallic spray paint is available in 6 shades. Alternatively use traditional greens, rich reds, or try a decadent purple or dreamy white. Look for Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch in Racing Green, Balmoral, Purple and Heirloom White.
