Excellent quality & fit.
I bought this, as a replacement, for my mother recently. The seat has a heavy luxury feel & look. The chrome fittings are of good quality & add to the appearance. It fits perfectly & generously as some cheaper seats can be a little too small. It was easy to fit & the soft closing mechanism is helpful for my elderly parent.

Short lived and cheaply made
I have now bought three of these seats, and have used two of them for more than a year so this can be seen as a considered review based on experience. Firstly, I want you to consider that these are NOT cheap, when reading further. The soft close mechanism is fine after continuous use on two of them. They are quiet, stylish and comfortable. However, they are fragile and cheaply finished; the paint on top of what appears to be high density fibreboard is thinner than paper and extremely prone to scratching as my wife demonstrated with her bracelet, by simply drawing it over the surface once to expose the 'wood' below, by pure accident. Then yesterday one of the toilet seats snapped in half for no apparent reason, except for the fact that the supports are inadequate. The replacement (no.3), evidently a modernised version, has twice as many supports; I wonder why? Same material though; the lid was damaged in the box, broken like a biscuit in two places. If I had the choice again I would not purchase these or any other by this manufacturer, but it would cost me more to completely replace them with something adequate than to simply alter, modify and cannibalise the existing ones. Thanks very much Bemis and B+Q, and yes, that was sarcastic.

These Seats Look Very Nice When New!
This is the second Bemis New York that we have had. They look fine, when they are new and the soft closer feature is good. But the chrome plated plastic hinges do tend to corrode and break down very soon. The white coating on the seat it's self also tends to fade and discolour after a while. We shall be keeping the receipt this time and shall have no hesitation about returning it if it fails in any way during the guarantee period, as this is not a cheap toilet seat!

Very Dissappointing
We decided to pay a little more for our toilet seat, as we thought we would get a better product. How wrong were we. Only one set of bumpers on each side, so it has completely cracked. Also has discoloured over time. Don't bother!

Had two,same fault with both.hinges seize then screws come adrift from cover.

Difficult to clean
Easy to fit and soft close is good, but it just will not clean up well. After 18 months, still functions OK but it is destined for the rubbish tip as it just looks so awful now

Soft close toilet seat
Good value for money for a quality item. The fitting was easy and the end result was perfect. The soft closing lid is very pleasing.
