Tool itself is good value, well constructed and removes material reasonably accurately, even in the hands of those not familiar with power tools.
Belt life seems good and reliable, but replacements are very expensive compared to equally rugged, professional quality third party manufactured replacements available online for a fraction of the price.
In all, a worthwhile addition to anyone's tool cabinet.

Excellent bit of kit .. You need to be carefully when putting pressure on it when fileing wood can be a bit brutal.. And buy extra belts. Very good from black and decker..

I was bought this for Christmas by my father, I am a novice sculptor and enthusiastic DIYer. This is a brilliant piece of kit for both sanding and sculpting, you need to be gentle though as it removes almost anything it touches. I would recommend practising on scrap wood first so that you can get a feel for how much pressure to put on.

This power file is probably one of the best tools I've ever bought for fast and easy sanding. It simply rips through the wood like butter. However, you need to be extremely gentle when using, don't be tempted to press too hard or you'll snap the belt. I went through 3 belts very quickly just getting used to the feel of it. Let the sander do the work! It's a really great piece of kit, you'll love it.
