A jigsaw that cuts in a straight line !!
A fine example of B & D innovation. A simple, yet effective guide in the base of the saw gives one a more than even chance of cutting a straight line. You need to make sure you're pointing it in the right direction before the guide engages because you cannot make a correction to bring the saw back in line if it's not correct at the start. My major criticism is the poor precision of manufacturing; the guide does not line up with the saw blade ! so, once engaged, the guide induces drag to the cutting process and a considerable amount of force is needed to overcome this. I had to re-engineer the guide mount to bring it into line. If it hadn't been for this I would have given it 5 stars quite happily.

Great for straight line cuts
Having just bought this saw and having completed a couple of small projects I thought I'd leave a positive review. The keel works perfectly to keep you on the line which you choose. Obviously you have to guide the saw by eyesight still, but its a handy tool to help. Switching to cut curves is a doddle too, a quick turn of the autoselect dial and your away. It has a good grip and low vibration so that also helps when cutting. My only gripe (& reason for 4 stars rather than 5) is that while it accepts both types of saw blade (T shank & U shank), the U shank blades seem to wobble/come loose quite easily. The T shank blades are absolutely fine however. Overall, I'm very happy with this Jigsaw. Hope this review helps anyone wishing to buy!

So far, so good
Purchased early March 14 to replace my old Bosch model that had fallen apart at the start of a new project. It is comfortable to use, vibration is low, the base plate appears much stronger than older B&D models. The keel works so long as you guide the blade along the cut line - don't expect this to take responsibility from you!

Good Jigsaw
Was given this product as a gift & having used it a lot over the weekend I finally looked it up on the net & was surprised by the other review. Easy to use & haven't had an issue. No problems & I would recommend.

Very very poor product
I really wanted this to work but it does not! I was cutting chipboard that ruins good tool blades, so I wanted to be able to use disposable jig saw blades, but still cut straight lines. It does not cut straight at all, and with the keel in place for a straight cut you cannot even correct the swerving. This was the worst tool purchase that I can remember. It is not as if it is cheap.
