Loft storage stilts allow for storage platforms to be built above insulation, whilst preventing the insulation below them from being compressed and ensuring that the cavity remains at the recommended minimum depth of 270mm to maximise energy and cost savings.
- Prior to installation ensure your structure can support the additional loads stored on loft storage stilts. Loading limit of existing ceiling structure should be confirmed by a structural engineer. To avoid overheating always ensure that exposed electrical cables are not covered by insulation. Keep insulation clear of exposed light fittings. 1) Position loft legs at widths to suit the panels you will be using to board your loft and screw through the base plate into the joists to secure. 2) Lay out your insulation to the desired depth. 3) Lay your boarding panels on top of the platform and screw into position to secure.

Easier than more timber
Used to board entire loft. Very solid structure once boards are fastened down. Easy enough to install.

Good Loft Stilts
I wanted to install some loft boards but wanted to maintain insulation throughout my loft, these have enabled me to do so. The more screws you fix them down with the more stable they are, be aware they do move though, once you've got them set out and fixed in place you're ready place the boards on them and start fixing them down. The frustrating thing is though the stilts / boards will move a little and allow the joints in the boards to open up a little, this isn't a performance issue in my opinion but is a little annoying when you're trying to achieve a neat job without too much faffing about.

Pre drill them for ease
Used in the loft with loft boards fairly easy to use I predrilled the base to make it easier to screw them to the rafters when in place the panels screwed straight on to them making a strong raised platform so as not to squash the roof insulation.

Not as good as the Legs which fit over the joist
I bought these loft legs for a project that I am doing. Although they serve purpose, I prefer the legs that have an inverted U shape to put over the beams rather than the flat edges of these. They are harder to drill and secure than the ones which sit across the joist and self grip. But that said, these work, and with two people - one to hold and one to secure they would be perfect for the job.
