Disappointing

These brackets are not easy to fit. The rawl plugs provided in the kit are useless - they are sealed and requires drilling out before fitting. Also, the washers are too big for the screws. Overall - not a good purchase.

Wall bolts for floating shelf

These are great for attaching slim wooden shelves that B&Q also stocked. Shelf is sturdy and makes the shelf look like it's magically suspended. B&Q only stocked 2 in a set so I had to purchase 2 sets to fit in the shelf requiring 3 bolts. 1 spare bolt I don't need but customer forced to purchase.

Hard work and incorrect instructions but solid

There are a number of problems with this product and for the price you expect there to be none considering what they are. First; the instructions tel you to drill a 8 mm hole in the wall but it should read 10, luckily I had already read a bad review on here so knew to look out for that one. Second, the instructions tell you to drill 8mm in the wood (I may have this wrong but chucked instructions now). You actually need to drill 12mm holes. Thirdly as others have mentioned, the screws don't seem the fit the wall plugs. They are actually the right size but I had to drill the plugs so the screw couple penetrate through them. Once in the wall they are very sturdy. It's also very tricky to drill all the holes at the correct angles and distances but not really the fault or the product. I did as a previous reviewer had done and angled the brackets slightly up, so when the shelf was mounted it drooped into the correct position.

Excellent product

I used 2 sets of these to put a 4' floating shelf above the fireplace. With the holes plugged firmly in the wall, make sure you separate the two halves of the brackets so you can get an adjustable wrench on it and tighten it well into the wall. I tried a variety of bit sizes in some old bits of timber to see what would work best before boring out the shelf. I used a grinder on the leading face of the bolts to chamfer them, just to make them go in a little more easily and made sure the holes were deep enough. I angled the bolts up slightly as I felt the weight of the shelf was bound to make it drop a little and then tapped the shelf home with a rubber mallet. All in all, as long as you take your time and think it through it is a very good product that does exactly what it is supposed to.

Hard to use but functional

I bought these to fit floating sshelves. Took me 2 hours to fit the first ones after realising i would have to use the sds drill to get them into brickwork. The rawl plugs are useless and seem sealed so its really hard to screw the metal pins in. I had to use a wrench to turn it, took ages. The second lot went in much easier. The shelves look good but mine also slope down towards the wall which is better than sloping away from the wall so i also bent the steel so its the right shape.

Useless

Brought 3 packs, but returning unused packs because not only are they difficult to install, they are flimsy and don't support the shelf. I don't recommend.

Complete rubbish.

The screw threads are too big for the rawl plugs provided meaning once you drill the holes and insert the plugs, you cannot screw the brackets in as they just don't fit. To make things worse you can't return them for a refund as the plugs are now stuck in the wall. The most useless piece of kit I've ever bought from B&Q.

I was pleased with these

Reading the rest of the reviews and I actually really liked these. I didn't want a thick shelf, so these were perfect. I did read the wrong instructions originally and drilled larger holes than necessary, but that was my error, so I filled them and repositioned the shelves slightly. I found the shelves sloped a bit once I slotted them on, but I think that may have been more to do with the angle I drilled at. At this point I realised that if I bent the rods slightly upwards from the screw that the additional weight on the shelf counteracted the slope. I've had them up for over a year now with DVDs on the shelves. The DVDs are set to the back of the shelf so the weight distribution isn't all at the front. Overall very happy with them. Pity they come in packs of two when the larger shelves require three brackets... and I guess the fact that they bent easily isn't a great thing (despite it working in my favour).

Shelf brackets

I brought these about a week ago and started by following the instructions drilled the holes 10mm bit as I had read .then plugs in and screwed the pins in and then drilled out the oak shelf with the depth of the pins put the shelf up the pins The shelf was leaning downwards and by God the shelf collapsed onto the floor this was only around 8kgs including shelf very rubbish

Terrible quality overpriced product

Over £7 for two steel pins would be expensive if they were well made but the quality is appalling, the rawl plugs were ripping in half as they were being screwed in. The design isn't good. You can screw the pins in but when you try to unscrew them the screw part that goes into the pin unscrews so effectively it's impossible to get them out of the wall. 8mm is not the correct drill bit as I found out to my cost. B & Q raking it in here by selling cheap shelves and expensive fixings.
