Too Short a Life.

I really try to install quality products to ensure a long life. Further, the use of a mains transformer was intended to make my door bell reliable, and free from the inconvenience of regularly replacing batteries. After two years, the 7770 has failed. This caused a slight emergency to my sick neighbour and trouble for me in tracing the fault. In the short term I have been able to install a battery in the bell housing; it only works if the mains trip to the transformer is left on, which I can't explain. A colleague told me of a Byron transformer which had failed after only six months.
I suggest that this is not good enough for a simple transformer.
The money I would spend on a replacement transformer could buy several years worth of batteries. What would you do? I doubt if Byron would provide a replacement.

Bought this transformer but there are no instructions with it, despite the package stating that they are inside!
