Easy to apply and a product that isn’t too pungent. Effective and economical in the larger quantity.

Worked well

I bought this to deal with wood work in a bedside table. Bottle says not to use it on garnishes surfaces but I tried anyway and just kept topping it up and it seems to have worked fine.

great treatment of wood

Very pleased with product, goes on well and very little odour - water based so not suitable for furniture but very good for floorboards where I had a small outbreak of the little devils

It does what it says on the tin

I've treated what I need to and haven't seen any more signs of the woodworms My only complaint would be that smaller tin size would be good

The Good & The Bad

We have recently done up a old house that had woodworm in 3 rooms that had infested the floorboards and the joists below. We ripped out all of the old floorboards and deposed of them, we then cleaned out all of the dust / debris under the floor and used wire brushes to scrub the joists clean ready to be treated with woodworm killer. The Good: Is this product goes on really easy, we used brushes to paint it on and then a sprayer for the places we couldn't brush. It not only went on well but seemed to soak into cleaned joists well enough, however I'd say at least 2 good coats are needed to make sure you cover everywhere. The Bad: The bad parts about this product are firstly the price and amount you actually need to treat 2 or 3 rooms. In total we used two 5l can per room / per coat. Meaning for an average sized double bedroom your going to need about 4 large tins to give 2 coats, and that's just treating the joists. Like stated we had 3 rooms to treat meaning in total we ended up buying about 12 tins of this stuff just to treat the joists. We will then probably need another 6 tins to treat the new floorboards that are been laid. Overall it will probably cost us about £700 to treat the 3 rooms, plus we also had to buy protective clothing / gloves / masks / brushes / sprayer so I'd say the grand total to treat 3 rooms was about £800 which provided 2 good coats over the joists and enough to treat the new floorboards. The other bad thing about this product is that is doesn't actually tell you what kind of mask you need to buy to stop you inhaling all of the fumes. It simply says "Wear Appropriate Protective Equipment" but it doesn't actually tell you what grade. For example there are about 15 different grades of face masks and it doesn't tell you which one you need. Having called customer services we were told to wear a P2 rated face mask to protect from fumes and vapours. One other thing to remember is that this stuff does have a fairly strong smell and would suggest you don't go in the room for 3 or 4 days after treatment. From other peoples reviews it takes about a week for the smell to dissipate, in my personal opinion I'd give it at least 1 week before laying any carpets or floor coverings. OVERALL: It seems like a good product, goes on well enough but it does become very expensive if you have a large area to cover. Like stated it cost us about £800 in total to treat 3 rooms with 2 good coats over the joists and new floorboards, in reality you can have a professional spraying company come in for about £1200 / £1500 with which you get a 30 year guarantee. If you have 1 room to treat or a fairly small area such as decking or a garden shed then this product would work great. If like us you have 3 or 4 rooms to treat you might want to consider a professional spaying company or seek a cheaper alternative. One thing is for sure if your spraying under an old floor then you need to clean out all the dust and dirt first or else spaying will do little good. If you decide to treat the problem yourselves then be prepared to do a lot of hard cleaning / hoovering / dusting / scrubbing to get floor joists clean before applying this product. Taking into account this product is basically water with a little poison added I'd say its expensive. From what I can gather its 95% water. In my eyes its seems like were paying £42 for a tin of water with a few scoops of woodworm poison added, in my opinion £25 a tin would be a better price.
