Dutch irises are easy to grow. They're a true classic, and thrive under almost any conditions to produce spectacular blooms. Perfect in patio pots, and great in beds and borders when planted in groups.
- Planting location: Beds, borders or in patio pots
- Soil moisture: Moist & well drained, Soil pH: Any
- Flowering period: June - July, Planting period: March - May
- Hardiness: H5 - Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters (-15 to -10°C)
- Plant in a sunny spot. Dig soil improver and bonemeal into the planting hole before planting. In heavy clay soils add horticultural grit to the bottom of the planting hole. Do not attempt to plant these bulbs if the ground is frozen or during freezing conditions Remove faded flowers to prolong flowering. Water well during dry spells. Top dress with a general purpose plant food as the last flowers fade. Allow foliage to die down naturally. Flowering results improve each year.

Dutch Iris bulbs
I bought the product reduced as some bulbs were already sprouting so I thought they’d be fine. Over half the bulbs were rotten and the rest that I planted are barely visible. Lesson learnt - bulbs are reduced for a reason!

They are fine
I bought them with reduced proce on the First week of May so they just started show green tops. Not sure they will manage to flowerimg this year but I hope I will see flowers at least next year.
