Lovely products to work with and great depth of colour.

Traditional colours and super flat finish

For me, the traditional finish of flat emulsion and the beautiful natural colours are the very best. I love this rich red paint which brushes on like smooth cream. I have used Farrow and Ball for many years, particularly for the types of colours found in rambling old houses. Nothing beats it. It is horribly expensive.

Deep, rich red

The incarnadine dead flat provided a rich and deep colour

Excellent finish but extortionate price

Excellent colour and finish for a feature wall. Only reason for not awarding a full 5 stars is the recent extortionate increase in price to just shy of £100 for a 5L tin.

Incarnadine - tester pot

I ordered this tester pot to use in my children’s advent calendars as I wanted a much richer, darker red than the childrens paints. It went on really well and gave great coverage. I applied 2 coats to give extra depth and it is the perfect Christmas shade.

Harry Potter!

My daughter saw this colour and said it was exact from Harry Potter. The layout of her bedroom and en-suite shower has enabled me to also purchase kittiwake,Dayroom yellow, duck green and wine dark for wood/metalwork to complete a Harry Potter themed room. Incarnadine is a lovely deep colour and it works well with the blue and yellow, but it also looks good when you stand back and see it against the green. Wine dark as a trim works very well. Farrow and ball paint is the only paint I use now.

Now a stunning dark red staircase

Worked beautifully to change the colour of a black metal spiral staircase. Went on nicely and looks fab, exactly what I wanted. This could have been a nightmare to paint but it covered well and took a lot of hassle away

Vibrant red that’s very sophisticated

I’ve found that choosing red shades can be challenging. What I like about f&b paints is that there’s always a subtle muted quality, even in the vibrant shades. The shades always have a kind of nuance to them. Incarnadine is one of those shades that’s not seen in other brands as it has just the tiniest amount of brown pigment added to the vibrant red tones. This brown pigment is barely perceptible and gives it a very slight terracotta red shade in low lighting conditions. In the early morning with the sun shining brightest, incarnadine takes on a beautiful coral red tone. Overall, the color is neutral to slightly warm toned. I think red is one of those colors that people shy away from since it’s so bold, but I find it deep enough that you don’t feel overwhelmed by the color. The overall effect is very romantic and pairs well with wood flooring and furniture.
