Love this lawnmower!

Replaced this with my old flymo that I had for years, very powerful I cut it on the lowest setting my lawn looked lovely, I would highly recommend this flymo so happy with this purchase and a good price too!

Vigorous machine for small lawn

In the 1970s I used some of the very first Flymos, as a teenager. It did help to remember how to manage the long cable safely and how to tip up the machine when starting, and if it struggled with thick grass, to let more air underneath. This is a noisy little brat of a machine which does a fair job on a small lawn. Light weight, easy to manoeuvre. So light and brightly coloured orange you could be tempted not to take it seriously: but make no mistake, this is a vigorous thing with a razor sharp whizzing blade so don’t rush... And use a brush or (as I do) a twig or piece of kindling to scrape off the mush of grass from inside the hover skirt. Always clean the machine otherwise it won’t work properly. Buy the 13Amp safety extension cable, then you’re sure to get the full area done. If you’re a lawn fanatic this is not the machine for you. I set the blade at its highest, to leave plenty of grass to survive end of winter frosts etc. The first cut was quite uneven but it had to be done between rain showers... ...Flymo cutting really does need dry grass. More 1970s memories! I’m confident of getting a more even cut with the blade at lower settings, in dry conditions. I don’t mind kicking the odd lump of grass cuttings into a flower bed or breaking it up on the lawn. The bits just blow away or fade into the ground. Only for small lawns. Light and easy to use. What was the original slogan? - Oh yes: “It’s a lot less bovver with a hover!” :)

Flymo turbo lite

This is a good mower for a small lawn the people who say this is a rubbish mower don't know what they are talking about and sounds like don't know how to cut grass at all I've had this mower 3 years with no problems so why don't you go and by bigger mowers

does what you expect for the price

if you expect it to cut the grass ... it will. if you expect it to collect the cut grass for you ... it wont. but it is light and you get what you pay for.

It’s a pleasure

I don’t know how I managed before with my cumbersome mower. It’s light, efficient and a pleasure to use. I have a large garden and it suits me well. I suppose it depends what finish you are after. For me as long as it cuts the grass, that’s fine and it does!

Good but not up to it if you have a large lawn

Needed something cheap after my Turbo 400 died. Its very good for small area but for my large garden it isn't really up to the job. As I live in a damp area I find the grass sticks to the inside of the cover and has to be cleared every few minutes which is very time consuming. If I move to a nice warm area with a small lawn it will be perfect !

Do not buy!

Without doubt this is by miles the worst tool I have ever spent my money on - it is pure rubbish. It isn't happy cutting long grass, short grass, anywhere near an edge, lawn weeds.... anything! When it does actually manage to cut something, it just sprays it everywhere doubling the work to clean up after yourself. It doesn't hover, and you use money effort pushing it then you would a metal petrol mower with no drive. Anybody who's says this is even slightly OK, has never actually cut a lawn properly used a half-decent mower. This was that terrible I recently gave it away too embarrassed to ask a penny for it!

This mower is a joy to use!

For the past 15 yrs I have used electric wheeled rotary mowers with grass collection on my medium sized sloping lawns. I decided to give a basic simple hover mower a try as my rotary mowers were quite heavy and hard work, I chose the Flymo 330 Turbolite because the reviews for it seemed quite positive. I am pleased to say that this mower is exceeding my expectations, it is very good build quality, hovers brilliantly, very lightweight and most importantly cuts the grass beautifully, the lack of grass collection is not a problem as it cuts the grass very finely. In the past I had a Hover mower with grass collection and it was a nightmare - it didn’t hover very well, was very heavy and the grass collection was actually very poor. I would like to conclude by advising that you should not be tempted to buy the more complicated models with grass collection- even though price wise they may look better value, this simple well designed model is a joy to use in every respect!
