Perfect

Wanted floating shelves to sit about my bar trolley to display glasses and bar type decor. Matches my Nordic oak flirting perfectly. No issues with shelves dropping either and they have been up for 12 weeks.

Great shelf

Seen some reviews where people had problems with these shelves drooping. The supplied support bracket is marked with an arrow. this needs to point up when the bracket is screwed to the wall ( you do need to provide your own rawlplugs and screws. There are multiple holes in the bracket but I used four screws with a shank diameter of 4mm). The shelf slides onto two rods that project from the bracket and I reckon that the rods are very slightly angled upwards and that corrects any potential droop. The shelf has two pre-drilled holes which must be underneath when it is slid into place. Then the two supplied screws are screwed into the pre-drilled holes and the screws go into the holes in the underside of the rods. This ensures that the shelf cannot inadvertently slid off the fixing. Result: a good-looking level shelf.

Lovely Shelf

This shelf looks lovely up, the colour and quality of it is good compared to some cheap looking ones you get. When I first put it up it drooped forward, after looking at it too much and it annoying me I took it down and then quickly worked out the rawl plugs hadn't gone far enough into the wall so when the screws went in it pushed the rawl plug slightly out of the wall pushing forward the bracket, so after some re-drilling and adjusting its now up perfectly straight no drooping. I wouldn't like to put anything particularly heavy on it however I wanted it for a CCTV recording box and it takes the weight of this perfectly and looks nice. Will be purchasing another one to put a couple of my orchids on. Don't be tempted to put in less screws, they design it that way for a reason and they definitely make the shelf more secure.

Is not fit for purpose

The structure of the shelf is unable to hold the floating shelf bracket in place. B&Q are into a good one selling shelve at £10 which ultimately does not work and requires the brackets made to strengthen the shelf for £15. A floating shelf is designed to show no bracket therefore the other brackets should not be required, feel B&Q are aware of this fault so should stop sales.

Should have read reviews!

Bought two of these for my kitchen. The brackets to hold these up are inadequate to say the least! They looked good once fitted but within minutes they started to droop before I'd even put anything on them! The fronts droop around 1 cm lower than the back so rendered totally useless as a shelf! Very disappointing and not worth the effort. Will now have yet another cost to purchase brackets and a lot more work! My recommendation - don't bother if it's a floating shelf you want!
