  • Surface Preparation - Preparation is key to ensure the best finish for metallic paints. New plaster or plasterboard should be sealed with a plaster sealer. For non-powdery surfaces or to cover contrasting colours, prepare with a walls and ceilings primer. Painted surfaces should be sanded, clean and dry. Fill any holes or defects with filler. When sanding, wear a face mask to avoid dust inhalation

Nice colour

Good product nice colour but needed 2 tins for 1 wall took 3 coats to cover correctly, still not 100% smooth after 3 coats

You Must stir this well

Excellent old gold - I shook the tub for ages and then stirred and stirred - you MUST stir this paint to get the true luxury colour. Also work in 'W' when applying the paint filling in the gaps - not up and down as with emulsion paint.

OMG!!!

This is the worst paint I have ever bought. Used it on a surface that has previously been painted magnolia. Mixed it for about 8 minutes before using. I expected it would take 3 coats but am now up to 5 and I'm still seeing patchy bits. Whilst I am not a professional, I have been decorating since the 80s and have never experienced any paint of such poor quality. Just glad it was only the back bits of my cabinets and not a wall. I have completely lost the will to live!

Shiny, but not sparkly!

I found this paint difficult to apply with a roller, as any overpainting would remove the already applied wet paint from the wall, leaving poorly covered areas. I also found that this paint wasn't sparkly like it shows in the samples, but it was shiny, in the same way a plastic bag is shiny. I was applying by roller on a previously painted textured paper. The pot looked half empty when I opened it, and I found that this a 2 litre pot, not your usual 2.5 litre, although I suspect that previously it was 2.5L. The finish is OK, although not what I was expecting.

Superb paint - IF you stir it!

Covers really well for see through effect or 2-3 coats but you MUST stir with a proper stirrer. Most poor reviews are from people who didn't stir it...

Awful - dont waste your money

very thin and poor quality - looks more like dirty mustard than gold

Excellent product.

I have used this paint in two ways. The first as an emulsion on my ceiling and the second on a wooden chest of draws. I was delighted with both results. This is a thick, good quality paint with metallic effect. It looks slightly more mustard than gold but has a lovely overall effect. It did take several coats but the end result is worth it and it has a lovely robust finish which I think will withstand wear and tear. Very pleased with how it turned out and think the product is great value for money.

It's beautiful

It does have some shine to it. Applied it to white wallpaper and it did come through with even 1 coat. Nice consistency. Keep storing the paint if you want the shine to be even. For 2L tub it's really good.

Great metallic gold paint

Took a risk after reading some bad reviews, but the good reviews persuaded me to go for it and glad I did. Made sure I gave it a really good stir before using. The paint is really thick, so if you’re painting a big wall or more you may need more than 1 tub. I did 2 small walls in the downstairs toilet and did 3 coats to get a really good even finish. Considering the price of the paint, I am really pleased with it!
