Check your wattage
The switch itself is fine and feels well made, but I just wanted to use it on a 40w incandescent bulb. That wattage appears too low for this product as the bulb just flickered. A 60w bulb solved the problem

Unexpcted features in the packet
I chose this Volex dimmer (barcode ending --- 24096) to extend the life of unusual filament bulbs by slowly turning the brightness up with the ROTARY switch. Unexpectedly the packing contained a dimmer fitted with push ON/OFF switch, which doesn’t slowly increase the brightness. Thus no good for the application. Several dimmers were inspected in the store but were all the same so unable to use this product.
