If you have barge poll don't touch it.

This 18 volt & 24 volt drill lasted no more than 24 hours of actual use. Must be the most expensive drill in the world.

Would be OK but batteries rubbish

This has had light use over 2 years. The batteries will no longer charge - v.poor

Good Dril - BUT

I have had the previous model to this for over a year now. Very good drill, does all it is supposed to do, and does it well. BUT the battery charger has packed up, and I cannot get a replacement. B&Q on-line help were efficient in response, but referred me to a supplier of Macallister petrol powered garden products! Lots of stuff on the web about people who have exactly the same problem. Lesson = DO NOT TOUCH MACALLISTER PRODUCTS.

Wrong Spec on website

Received drill promptly, but sadly i had to return it as the specification on the website did not match those on the drill packaging. Website rated the torque as 45 nm but the drill packaging informed that the drill torque was 36 nm.

great drill

I've had a couple of own brand 18v drills in the past which haven't stood upto the job. This MacAllister 18v Li combi so far seems perfect for most DIY jobs. My home is 1950 with very hard walls, the MacAllister had no trouble at all. Comes with one battery with power surge so you can see the capacity of the battery with a push of a button and will charge to 20% in 5 minutes so there is no fear of waiting hours to charge up. Features hammer, drill and driver settings with torque so covers most things. Half the cost of other premium brands, I'm not disappointed.

Battery beware

I purchased this drill as I believed it to be the best value. I had started comparing drills some months ago and made a spread sheet ticking off best parts of all the drills I looked at. I compared it with other drills available and found it to be the best value. Longest warranty, best drilling potential and much more. The main review confirmed what I thought so off I went to collect the unit. When I got it home I found that there was only one battery. I know it now says that there is only one but when I started looking there were two. The main issue is that you will need to down tools when the battery runs out and wait for at least an hour while it re-charges. I’ve looked for a second battery on line but nothing seems available so I’m taking it back and paying the extra for an 18V Bosch. £15 more but I’m sure a second battery will cost more than this. (My Brother purchased the Mac Allister a couple of years ago (with 2 Batteries) and this has worked without a problem so it is a good drill but the removal of one battery to keep the cost down is a disappointment)

Beware. I bought the previous model to this. Great drill & batteries. Really good. BUT, the charger packed up as noted by others on the net and you cannot get a replacement. So I have had to throw a perfectly good drill away. They will however replace it during the 3 year warranty period! But not sell you one after!

Bought a Mac about 6-7 years ago when I first moved into my house. It took severe abuse and still worked away merrily. Can't get batteries for them anymore unfortunately but, to be honest, the chassis flexes that much now that it's been retired... Chassis flex is nothing to do with the manufacture! It WAS severely abused. Well... In B&Q last week and I spotted this little drill on sale at a nice price (special offer). Comes with 2 batteries and they're 'Li-ons'. I have so many different drills I really shouldn't have bought this one but the price and my fond memories of my old one seemed to compel me into the purchase. I went back yesterday, on a mission, and bought one. Comes with a bag, 2 batts, charger, drill. Well put together little bag! Out comes the batteries for some charging and I have a 'feel' of the drill, feels heavy but not in a 'heavy' way, more a kind of attempt at a quality feeling. It does pull off the quality, nice engineering is evident everywhere. With the batteries charged it was time to start her up. Nice relaxed and quality spinning drill, plenty torque settings and three settings for drilling, screwing and hammer drilling. Sweet little LED which is handy. Lets fire in some screws! It manages it very well with no run out, yet. I have to admit I started with the 'abuse' almost straight away... Pilot hole and then 100mm screws into framing timber... The drill copes quite well but then it suddenly stops... I thought I had broken it! I hadn't, the clever engineers have built in some form of battery protection which cuts the drill out, flashes all the battery indicator lamps red and then resets quite quickly ready for further use. It only really struggles at the very very last moment on the 100mm screws! No doubt a little less laziness and a some countersinking might solve this issue... Overall a fantastic drill. Quality build, solid feel, nice electrical battery protection, funky LED, lovely carry bag, great price, quick charging. A little heavy but then only constant overhead work would be a disadvantage here. Buy one.
