Not MDF

This is LDF (Low Density Fibre) as opposed to MDF (Medium Density Fibre). Wouldn't touch again it with a barge pole.

Fantastic help from staff for a great product

I was able to purchased MDF yesterday with a very crude drawing of a desk which I was going to make. Whilst at the store a young lad called Lewis was very helpful and tolerant of my continuous questions as we worked out how much MDF I would need. Over to the the cutting department where another young man called Zucci (hope this is right) was cutting up a variety of customers materials.He was patient, remained calm when the que got bigger and communicated well. When it came to my turn he was extremely helpful in lifting the large sheets of MDF and cutting to my requirements which had been worked out by the previous employee Lewis. These two employees of the store were exceptional in their delivery of customer service and were more than happy to assist. A huge Thank You! to the staff such as Zucci and Lewis who went above and beyond yesterday, it was very much appreciated.

Great customer service

I went to the Guildford branch to purchase the mdf to build my kids bunk beds, had the delight of dealing with Bharat who worked on the saw who told me he was more than happy not to just cut them down to fit them in the car but to cut all the pieces to the size I required. About 17 cuts, 9 sheets of mdf and 45mins later he helped me wheel my trolley of cuts and trolley of off cuts to my car. Saved me hours of work......just the detailed cuts left to do now. Thanks Bharat for your excellent customer service, highly recommended!!!!!

Poor quailty

Without doubt the worse quailty MDF I have ever seen. Almost impossible to drill through with any type of Forstner bit. Boards Fibres are to loosely packed.

Satisfactory product - especially for the price

As kitchen units are only supplied with 1 shelf, and I wanted 3 shelves, I needed an additional 20 to help fit out my workshop. At the Kirkcaldy Branch I just told Donna, on the cutting service, the size of the shelves and at a cost of £40 for 2 sheets of MDF she supplied me with 20 excellently cut shelves and 6 very useful offcuts. Ready cut shelves at £2 each !!! What more could you ask for. Well done B & Q Kirkcaldy Branch

Been a carpenter for 15 years and this is a Poor quality MDF board when painting with MDF primer goes like chip board and needs to be rubbed down

Great Product!

Flat, Smooth and Easy to use! I used the timber cutting service which was wonderful to use. Although staff morale at the cutting station can be low and sometimes rather unhelpful.

Problem edging

Bought several sheets of 18mm MDF cut by local timber merchants for cabinets I was building. One of my measurements was wrong so on a Sunday, I had to use B&Q to have one piece cut. No problems I thought until I came to paint units. Edges of all Timber Merchant supplied MDF were smooth and easily covered by couple of coats of Bullseye 123 to give a clean smooth edge. B&Q piece was much more porous and pitted. Had to use filler to get clean smooth edges. Can only presume B&Q MDF is poorer quality

I bought this from the Scotswood Road Branch Newcastle, thought it was fantastic that they cut the wood to size for you for free. However would've been nice if the member of staff had a personality. Most miserable person I've ever met. My son is a joiner and is about to lose his job and would love to be able to have a job like that helping people. Come on Mr give us a smile!!!
