great product
Easy to paint or you can use in its natural state. I would buy again.

Does what it is designed for
I brought 7 of these to put up dvd shelving in our study/library room. Look lovely when stained a rich golden colour.

Good value for money
Having just moved home I am getting rid of some rough sawn plywood shelving in various cupboards. These shelves are solid wood strips bonded together to make a comparatively wide plank. The advantage is that the shelves are unlikely to warp. The disadvantage is that unless the whole width is supported the bond might break. One feature I liked is that one edge is rounded. There were more knots in the timber than I would have liked, but for my usage these will not show and are unlikely to reduce the strength of the timber. For a finish, the boards have three coats of linseed oil.

Seriously poor quality
These are not solid shelves, they are made from several laminated planks. I purchased 4 shelves and at the checkout, the assistant noticed that one was split (the laminations had started to fall apart), so I swapped it out and we checked the other three shelves - they all looked fine, but when I went to fit them and removed the shrink wrap, two others were not laminated properly and were coming apart. I could not justify driving back to the store, so I applied some wood glue and bound the joints overnight. There's 'value', and there's 'barely fit for purpose' - but that wouldn't fit on the product label.
