No frills, but very good value for money
Good value choice for occasional / light use, would probably struggle in a workshop environment as pretty basic and fairly low powered so can bog down if used without finesse... Slight grumble that the flip-down safety shield was cracked, but I never use it anyway as they obscure sighting the drill so not too bothered (My choice) Also, I modified it slightly to make it more user friendly - it comes with a bolt to secure the top cover covering the pulley belts, which I changed to a threaded knob - so much easier to use as you can unscrew it with your hand rather than needing tools...

Small enough for a small shed or workshop
Handy small drill but very useful in limited work area. using it with a small drill is a bit fiddly with the guard down.still a good tool

Better than expected!
I've just used the drill to make six chokes and also some 20mm holes in softwood and it was perfect for the job. Nice round perpendicular holes. :-) The belt is easy to change between pulleys and the spindle/chuck runs true. I'm left handed so the table adjust knob is nicely placed. On off switch is enclosed and works well. Safety cut off on top cover trips circuit so will not start again until cover is closed and green button is pressed. The pressed steel base is a bit lightweight and pulley on motor is slightly eccentric (about 1mm) meaning some vibration and movement of drill head and table... luckily the steel upright is sturdy so the vibration doesn't affect the cut. Travel guide and limit stop is a bit lightweight but to be fair it works well once the guard and red indicator needle are properly aligned. I would have liked to have seen EZP fasteners to make it more rust resistant and some washers on them too! Still, for the price I paid it is certainly an excellent piece of kit!

Great Value
Easy to assemble and does what it's supposed to. One minor gripe. The mounting bracket that attaches the table to the vertical column is mounted so that the tightening lever is on the left. Not a problem if you're left handed. Ok so turn the bracket upside down and then turn the table over (undo the bolt underneath the table). Unfortunately the stick on scale for tilting the table through different angles is now at the bottom. I wouldn't peel it off as this will probably destroy it. That said it's not a showstopper and you can use your left hand to adjust the table when required. When completely assembled I smeared a light coat of oil onto the vertical column, the table top surface and the main spindle.

Design Fault
Everything I expected for the money but a bad flaw with the spindle adjustment screw located next to the feed handle. Mine was loose and when I followed the instruction manual the spindle jammed and was slightly damaged. On removing the screw I found that instead of being round on the end so as to allow slotting into the groove on the quill the end had two flats ground on it. This meant that it was useless as an adjuster but just shaved some metal off the quill. The distance across the flats is 4.5mm this should be machined into a round shape 4.5mm diameter. Hopefully B&Q will supply a replacement part of the correct shape to anyone who has bought one of these. All said still good value.

Very Happy
Delivery time was great..came next day from ordering.Product was very well built sturdy and heavy. It did need putting together somewhat but this was very easy. The drill speeds can be changed by moving the belt inside the top of the machine.Instructions give clear deltails of what speeds to use for each material. The machine is great for what I need to do(Drilling holes in steel pipe). All in all cant fault it and very good price aswell.

DIY only
Anyone buying this machine for their own use will be fully capable of assembling it from the box. However, the depth stop arrangement is very problamatical both in its design and operation, and I suspect that most will discard it at assembly stage. No holder for the chuck key but easily solved by attaching a loop of thin garden wire to it and hanging it from a handy knob upper right. Runs quietly and is perfectly powerful enough for DIY tasks. Overall its slightly smaller than anticipated but drill travel is adequate. Certainly not a tool for a professional but for the market its aimed at it represents good value.

Be aware 150 mm extra space above unit to allow access to the drive belt for gear change. The 'on' button requires gorilla strength push to establish contact. Otherwise all OK
