Surprisingly Good!

I bought this for £50 from B&Q using the compensation SSE were forced to pay a few years ago after persistent power outages where we live. It went in the shed for over a year, never having been started as naturally the power then stayed up. Until that is the Xmas of 2013/2014 when we had no power for a week. I never expected it to start, let alone provide anything like a useful supply, especially as it had fallen off a shelf in the mean time, bouncing off my head and cracking various plastic covers on it! Well, after cleaning off the dust, cobwebs and fuelling it, I think it started 2nd pull and continued running perfectly. I was a initially just running a few lights, battery chargers and phone chargers off it and it worked fine. I then decided as we were missing the Xmas TV, I'd gamble running our surplus 24" LCD TV and an unused Sky box off it. This is contrary to the instructions on the generator and all sensible advice. And at the end of a 50m extension cable. Anyway, I half expected puffs of smoke and frazzled electronics. Amazingly, not only did both devices work exactly as if on mains power, they performed without any flickering or spluttering and we had a 'normal' Xmas. Albeit without heating, hot water, cooker etc. I was very surprised and pleased with the outcome. It surpassed all I expected from a little 2-stroke 'free' generator and although setting it up down the garden and running cables everywhere is a faff, it makes life a while lot more liveable. Additional bonuses were that even though it had been running for 5 hours continuously, and therefore close to it's supposed maximum run-time, I discovered it still had about a third of the fuel left in the tank! Amazing. I guess we are lucky to have neighbours who are detached and am able to plonk the genny at the end of the garden, but also I couldn't actually hear it running from the back of the house so in our circumstances even being a 2-stroker wasn't an issue. So, although I would say you get what you pay for, in my experience this little beast is well worth it for this kind of 'home emergency'.

Peak power 650W real power about 250W rms

I bought this to power a bilge pump of only 350W and it struggled to run this and the engine revs ranged and surged. The fuel tank edge flange was bent and the air filter plastics were cracked out of the box. Underpowered and very disappointing.
