Much better, cheaper options available

I tried this out when I first started renovating my house, as it's well marketed towards newbies like I was. I found it pretty difficult to use... Doesn't go on that easily and it's relatively hard to sand down. I've since moved onto products aimed more at the trade market than DIY. I don't think I can mention other specific products in this review, but big sacks of powder filler that you mix yourself are so much better. Search online decorators / electricians' forums to get a good idea of others to use. Other ones I've used go on easier, sand off smoother and cost less. You also don't need specific tools to go with this if you do decide to use it, just use a scraper to put it on and either the same scraper or a plasterer's float to smooth it out.

Better products at much cheaper prices available

This stuff is okay. I'd say it's quite hard to use, at least to get it really smooth easily. I started off using this when redecorating my house, but switched to British Gypsum Easifill 60. You get an 8kg sack of powder for a lower price than this product. Pretty similar to be honest but easier to get it to the consistency you want by adding water and sooo much cheaper.

Great product

Purchased this product rather than have my dining room walls plastered. They were marked and had lots of knocks. Product worked really well. So pleased. Nicely smoothed over. Definitely worth trying!

Absolute rubbish

Don't waste your time with this product. It does not so what it says on the box. I scraped it off the wall and threw the whole lot away. Total waste of money.

Use a plastered float

I used this on original old fashioned plaster on a 100 year old house.. Looks more like cement fixed to lattes than modern plaster... I tried plastering before as a diy man ,it's quite hard to do,messy,..and hard work with rubbish results if you've not done it before.... Allthough a big bag a plaster only cost not much more than a fiver if you can get hang of it. I found this product quite easy to use without to much mess After doing the first 2 walls with the sepratley sold tools which I thought were over prices at £15 to £20 and half of it ended up on the floor as it falls off the roller quite easyly, ... I used a wallpaper scraper to spoon the smooth over out of the tub and stuck a blob of the stuff on the wall any old how and none of it went on the floor... Once there spread it out with the plastering tool that cost about £6 and spread it out over the walls maybe about 1mm thick thus it went much further and quicker and none on the floor... Quick sand after and its 90% better than it was before and am overall happy with my results as for me 90% was good enough.. I could have achieved better results by applying a thicker or 2 coats but at a couple hundred pound a room it was good enough using 6 tubs rather than 10 tubs for a 13ft x13ft room. At £24 a tub it's expensive and doesn't go very far but cheaper than having your room re scimmed by a plasterer... I'd use it again

Good for non-plasterers

Bought this and the applicator kit of roller and squeegee blade. Smoothover is good and covers cracks but the roller is useless as it takes up to much filler and drips. I used a scraper to apply the filler. The squeegee was excellent though and made it easy to smooth off the filler.
