Ronseal dark oak fence paint

I bought this paint I used it last year and put on two coats, it has faded in places and have to go over them again. I like the colour but doesn't last long.

I highly recommend this product as its quite reasonably priced and it covers well. Forget "one coat"...Any tin of paint that says that on it is just not being honest. But relatively speaking it covers well and two coats on our new gates worked fine 3 years ago. This year I have recoated them with one extra coat and the gates look like new again.
The instructions on the tub say you can't use this on smooth planed wood. Our gates are smooth planed and I have had no problem. One of my gate posts is made of steel and was pre-painted in black. I decided it would be a good idea to paint it with Fence Life to make it look more like a matching wooden post. I rang Ronseal's technical helpline and they said it would not work. I decided to ignore this advice and go ahead anyway. Three years later and its absolutely fine. It was easy to apply, just the same as any other kind of paint.

Confusing review title i know, however this paint is and isnt one coat (depending what your painting)
Had a brand new fence fitted, which was plain old tannanised wood and it worked a treat one coat.
Paint over a previous reddy orange fence paint and required 2 coats as you could still see the old colour quite badly.
Second coat though made all the difference.
Its a nice thick consistency, which helped get it through all the splinters in the old wood
Coverage was good, approx 7 standard 6 foot panels per tub
Downside is the price, nearly 3x what i paid from another store of this type for the same thing (i ran out, due to needing 2 coats)
Colour is great, nice dark brown and as a added bonus, clean up was a doddle!
Needs multiple coats

Happy with the colour and coverage - easy to use and goes a long way. Wouldn’t trust the “one coat” as looks patchy after first coat on fresh wood. I’d recommend at least 2, we used 3 as wanted a more solid colour. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars.

I just painted 15 panels, the colour is perfect. Looks far better than the other colours more upmarket. Would highly recommend.
