While natural sand is generally harmless, it can produce dust particles that may contain respirable crystalline silica through natural or mechanical forces. Respirable silica may be present in small amounts in all naturally-occurring silica sands. Repeated inhalation of respirable crystalline silica (quartz) can lead to a condition called silicosis. Even temporary exposure to silica dust can cause eye irritation. When handling sharp sand, remember it consists of tiny glass shards, as the term 'sharp' implies. Consider the following risks: - Causes skin irritation - Causes serious eye irritation - Follow special instructions before use - Wear protective gloves, clothing, eye protection, and face protection
