Used it for the first time today!!!
Use the trimmer today to cut a large hedge with brambles and brush wood. Made light work of the job - started without issues. The only drawback is that it is quite heavy. Good value at £95.

Not ideal
First one broke took it back and got a new one. Second one now completely useless after hours of maintenance. And replaced parts. A simple machine that should be easy to maintain but not a winner. What a waste of space and time.

Hedge Trimmer
Had the trimmer for two years and liked it. Worked well on heavy hedges. Generally started first time and easy to handle, although did have occasional problems when on its side, but was manageable. However, when it went wrong, oscillating blades stopped working, local reputable repairer could not fix it as it was made in china and could not get parts, so have had to throw it.

Best left alone
It was pretty good for the first two years. Then it became really difficult to start. Now it has died altogether. I think the carburettor no longer delivers fuel. Spent the best part of the day trying to make it go. It is now scrap!

Do not buy this item
This item could not even cope with a small leylandi hedge and a couple of shrubs without continuoisly cutting out. This item does not like being tipped on its side... but how are you meant to cut a face of a hedge without turning the machine on its side?? I was weary of spending nearly £100 of my hard earned money on this item. I knew this item was going to be trouble but I decided to give it a chance. I shouldnt have bothered because it was even worse than I expected. B & Q take this item off your shelf!!!!!

Think Twice
I’m a professional user so a petrol hedge trimmer at under a hundred quid is a consumable item, these start okay and provided the petrol tank is full enough for the thing not to be sucking air it’ll run at all angles . That said I’ve had two of them in the last 30 months (the second one died yesterday) and I don’t do a lot of hedge work. You can’t get parts for this product, not even an air filter. B&Q may reasonably say that they’ve only recently started stocking this brand made by “Orange Dot” but I believe they previously sold the same item under the brand name “Tertiary”. If you’re buying a petrol hedge trimmer you probably have a large hedge so go elsewhere and by a brand name you recognise for a little extra money. Try a Google for Orange Dot or search this site for Chainsaw
