Cheap but worth the money

I bought a few of these shelves for my summerhouse. Good value but instead of using the nails supplied to fix shelf to brackets I drilled holes and screwed them together. If you use the nails firstly not strong enough secondly wood tends to split.

Absolute pants.

I bought 3 of these for the kitchen and was very disapointed of not angry. They are cheap and for a reason. THEY ARE RUBBISH! Nothing is square or lines up, the screw holes are on the support fittings are all off kilter forcing me to drill new ones. The shelf boards themselves are all slighly warped and the faces on the top and back of the fittings have all been planed at a slight angle from true so nothing sits flat either horizontaly or verticaly. You have to drill your own holes in the supports to enable them to be screwed to the battons so these are not "self assembly" . The screws are the only thing pulling the whole thing into some semblance of true. Someone put real effort into making something this bad! Do yourself a favour and spare yourself the frustration and headaches, spend a few more quid or get properly finished boards and seperate, ACCURATE fittings. These things really are a false economy.

Avoid!

You get what you pay for. Great price, but they're incredibly poorly made. I bought three, and had to return two of them - and then had to return one of the replacements too! The supports are often drilled off-centre and wonky, and the shelf planks often have splits are really shoddily joined. If you're going to buy one then inspect it VERY carefully - I'd say open it at the till to make sure there are no defects. 1 star for quality obviously. 2 stars for value as cheap but not worth it. 3 stars for ease as should be easy but you end up redoing the drilling yourself.

A shelf for all seasons

Perfect solution, cheaper and as good as I could make

Infuriating

Rawl plugs were the wrong size. Holes in the brackets aren't level, the brackets also aren't flush once you've put them together. Generally shoddy. Managed to sort something out ourselves, but took 5 times as long as it should have.

No complaints

Have purchased several of these over the years. Simple to assemble for any half competent DIYer (can't understand the people who find it difficult!). Look great varnished, stained or painted.

Only good for firewood

My wife bought two of these at the weekend to go in our baby's room. When I came to fit them I could not believe just how bad they were. The pilot holes for the supports were either not drilled, drilled in the wrong place or drilled at an angle. Out of the four supports only one of them went together correctly. A 12 year old could have produced these better in his/her woodwork class. I appreciate that they are cheap but they should at least be able to go together correctly. Come on B&Q, this is basic woodwork skills! Needless to say they ended up in the bin. My poor wife had spent time painting them with expensive chalk paint prior to fitting so that was her time wasted as well. Appalling product and money down the drain!!
