just about useless
i bought this through the bosch reputation .. how wrong i was . first time using the hedge trimmer attachment it just doesn't cut , jams and you have to pull it off taking out clumps . secondly the big motor unit is just too heavy and unbalanced , its only plus is its well made ... just a pity it is useless

Very disappointing
Bosch have always traded on a reputation of solid construction and reliability. Sadly, this item is the runt of the litter. I have had the power unit replaced three times and each has failed in rapid succession. In fairness B&Q have been very fair and now refunded as it was clearly hopeless, but I'm still stuck with the very pricey accessories. I wouldn't touch Bosch garden tools with bargepole from now on.

Lasted 4 hours then drive broke.
Used infrequently over a couple of years or so,with approx 4 hours of total use time. Drive broke 3 weeks after warranty ended. I rang the after-care number and they could not have been more unhelpful if they had tried. The attitude was we have your money and we don't care, go and find someone locally to repair it. The unit, when working, is quite heavy and cumbersome and the strap does not appear to be in the right place to balance it. On reflection, with attachments you get a lot of kit for not a lot of money which perhaps gives a clue to its quality. Very disappointed in the product and even more disappointed in Bosch. Don't buy it!!! B&Q were very helpful in suggesting a local repairer.

Never worked again after 40 seconds!!!
After researching this product, I ordered online and was delivered in less that 36 hours, brilliant!!. Spent over an hour online on the BOSCH website registering the items for the Bosch 3 year warranty. Then marched into my garden to set about a mad hedge, looking forward to a productive afternoon I switched it on, 40 seconds later it stopped and refused to ever work again. Telephoned BOSCH just to let them know and they were not a bit interested, all they said was go back to B&Q. Telephone B&Q who were apologetic but as they are not stocking the items are unable to replace, so I have to accept a refund, which means waiting in for a collection by the courier or taking the "duff unit" to a B&Q store for a refund, what a waste of time.

Disappointed
Says in hand book to use Bosch Tool kit to sharpen blade. Could not find one so wrote to Bosch who said they do not make one. Suggested buying a Dremel with appropriate attachment. Mega Bucks. Luckily himself has a blade sharpener for our chain saw, but was then unable to any technical info regarding angles and file size. Found answer through process of elimination. Not everyone would be able to do this so it would get used until saw was blunt then it would be useless. Poor after sales service and technical support.

Useless
Bought with hedge trimmer attachment to replace Bosch AHS55 whose batteries are on their last legs. Found it very heavy and unwieldy. On the sides of the hedge it does cut, but not very cleanly. On the top of the hedge it is useless. The cut stems do not clear the blades so that after a few inches of cut, although the blades are still operating, they will not cut any more. Reverted to using my old trimmer which even with failing batteries works much better. Like previous reviewer took it back to B&Q who refunded without quibble. Thanks B&Q!

Modern kit that makes sense
Bought the pole pruner and hedge trimmer to attach to the main unit, does the job, looks good and no problem to operate ( or start!). Only issue is the mains lead outlet, it is on the base and may become damaged over time as I have tended to stand it up on its base during operation but apart from that and the rather heavy weight when operating at height it's a good useful tool.

not fit for purpose
I bought this to cut my large laurel; hedges and thought this would be the ideal tool for the job - I was wrong, I am reasonably strong and fit but found this tool really heavy and unwieldy with the extension pole attached, to the point where it was unuseable. Without the extension it is more manageable (albeit reducing it's value to me) but still lacks capability as a hedge trimmer. The blades are set wider apart than other trimmers and, consequently, they tend to trap rather than cut the hedge. unless you use the tool as a scythe with a relatively quick slashing movement. The problem here is that the result is a hacked hedge rather than the neat cut I usually get. I was really disappointed as I wanted this to work, sadly it doesn't. I take my hat off to those who have rated this tool highly. Fair play to B&Q - they took it back and refunded me without fuss - at least they come out of this well!

Great Garden Utility!
This is the all important power unit for the various attachments that can be purchased to go with it. Despite what the website says this has a 1000W motor! Very powerful, straightforward and easy to use.
