Great engine,shaft driven

Ok so far, excellent manual from Honda. Nothing from Mountfield, to explain what to do to set up operations.

Inadequate assembly and operating instructions

Herewith a couple of points to note when preparing your mower for use. Firstly, there is no mower operating manual only a manual for the Honda engine and its 9 variants. The info sheet which refers to the assembly accessories contained in the small plastic bag shows a throttle control assembly, don't waste any time looking for it as there is not one fitted. They don't spell it out but engine speed is "auto" for want of a better description. To start the mower (I am advised by Mountfield but haven't got that far yet) grip the black handle nearest to you against the main handle of the mower and pull the starter cord to fire up the engine, let go to stop etc. Again there is no warning or advice but the mower comes with a mulching plate affixed, you will see it in the grass chute if you look. To remove it, preferably before you add oil and fuel, look underneath the mower and you will see a sprung plastic clip holding it in place, just move it to release the plate. Whether you use the mulcher or not is of course a matter of personal choice. Finally there is a little black plug, item 6 on the info sheet, to fit it lift up the red cover to the grass chute and inside there is a rib of plastic, just set tleft of centre, which has a small hole to accommodate this plug. Tomorrow we fire it up!
