When it says full sun, it means it!
I bought this a couple of weeks ago. In full sun (like not a cloud in the sky-unusual in Devon) it works beautifully. If even 1/16th of the solar panel gets a shadow on it though it stops working, likewise if there is the smallest wisp of cloud. It therefore doesn’t work for quite a lot of time. Also, shop around. I bought my second one £10 cheaper in my local garden centre last week.

Shocking how expensive this product is
This product can be found under 10 pound on a lot of other sites and they are useless I have one in a small bucket pond and it doesn’t work properly you need clean the small filters regularly and it will only work with full sunlight if a cloud passes it will not work

Poor
This only works when there is bright sunlight directly on the solar panel if there is the shadow even from a blade of grass it won’t work. Terrible

Smart Solar Water Pump
Does exactly as the description depicts and works well in direct sunlight. Maybe should be slightly cheaper regarding value for money

Great little thing - does exactly what it says.
Frankly, it's a bit naive to buy this (inexpensive) little product which clearly states 'works in direct sunshine' and then complain that it doesn't work in the shade or after dark! It's not like a solar light which stores energy during daylight and then uses it at night time. It can be used floating, or secured to the bottom, though I haven't tried that. Now that there are flowers and plants both in the 'pond' and the other planters, it it just what I wanted. Can't comment on its durability as I've only had it a few weeks - but I not the warning that I should store it once there's a risk of frost.

Hit and miss
I bought this pump to create a small water feature for the garden. Yes, I realise solar products require sun, but I was hoping that, like solar lights that work in the shade and after dark, also this pump might function out of direct sunlight for a while. Well, it doesn't. I'm contemplating taking it back to the shop as it is difficult to position it in our garden in a spot where sunlight would be constant. In addition, the little pump unit is a bit wobbly as the suction cups come loose and you have to place rocks in the bowl to keep it upright, otherwise the water will just fly out of the pot. Saying that, I do like the height of the water spray once it gets full sun. Also, the selection of alternative fountain heads is great, as is the fact you can alter the height of the pipe.

Perfect product
I bought this product fully understanding how a solar feature works. They don't work in the shade and only work effectively in direct sunlight. I have bought cheap versions online however the quality and performance is no match for this little pump. The height of the fountain on a sunny day is easily around 10 inches.

not worth the money
bought this product a few days ago and for the money i would expect better ... it only works when the sun is directly out and shining on the solar panel other than that its useless

Perfect for what I needed it for
I bought this product yesterday in store to make my own water feature. It was perfect and the pump works great in the sun!

Rubbish .. don’t waste your money
Needs to be pointed directly at the sum to work and now 3 weeks later doesn’t work at all !!!!
