Sub standard design.

This hasp and staple is not fit for purpose. The U bend is press fitted into the bracket. I pulled the Padlock slightly to check it was secure and the U bend fell out. Poor design. These items need to be graded similar to the padlock CEN system. Unfortunately they are not.

AFFREUX

This is cheap but is it good value?

I installed one of these last week to secure wooden garage doors shut. In retrospect I would have chosen one of the others stocked by B&Q, albeit at a higher price. The screws supplied are very soft, and even with a drilled pilot hole it was hard to get them screwed in without mangling the cross-point screwhead recess. (I see reviews of other models of hasp/staples at B&Q also have this criticism). If they were hard to screw/unscrew when new it would become harder over time for any future alteration, so I substituted better screws. The hasp/staple seem likely to be durable. This design wherein the staple is perpendicular to the direction of the hasp and fits in a close-tolerance cut-out of the hasp, and is perpendicular to whatever it is attached to, means that if you fix the hasp and staple at a distance to mesh correctly when closed, the "hypoteneuse" when trying to open/close it doesn't then allow you to open/close it. I ended up needing to wedge the staple to be tilted towards the hasp pivot in order to allow it to be opened/closed and to fully close.
