Perfect for the job in hand
I chose this timber because of its naturally strong properties. My daughter and I went to our local store and had the timber cut to size for our project and the employee who helped us was so lovely and helpful. He hand cut the wood for us because the shop’s wood cutting machine was out of order. He couldn’t do enough to help us. Thanks B&Q, we will be back soon!

Good thickness of timber
Not so easy to find this thickness of timber (28mm) - most non-specialist timber is available at only 18mm or so. I didn't have the option of choosing the best available piece because only one was left in the rack - and. of course, it was bowed. But hey, so was the wall, so it worked out fine!
