Cut to my requirements - excellent service
The in-store cutting service is fantastic. I took my sketch of a bookcase along with the measurements to the Cambridge store and a member of staff cut the pieces for me there and then. No need for me to attempt any wood sawing. I would definitely recommend this for any novice DIY decorators.

MDF Board
I wanted 12mm board to build a tortoise tabel but my local stores (within 20 mile radius) were out of stock so purchased the 9mm board. It did the job but care was required in screwing items together. The plus side is that the finished table is much lighter than it would have been had I used 12mm board.

Does the job...
This was a good buy from B&Q, especially as 6 sheets qualified for the "20% off on 5 or more" offer. I'm actually intending to lay it as a floor base material under a DPM lining layer and then laying laminate flooring on top. The 9mm was required to level a part-tiled floor without having the horrendous job of removing said tiles first and it's worked well. To prevent any potential water issues, I have "primed" the boards to seal them before laying.

Top Quality Wood
This is a large bit of wood to handle but don't let that put you off, they can cut it down to size in-store. it's so versatile and really is a pleasure to work with. If you're making shelves then this MDF board should be a serious consideration. Cutting, planing and sanding are all simple no nonsense tasks with this wood. When you're finished you'll have some nice strong shelves that all will admire.
