Good for the price
Like other Stanley products the instructions are sparse so the minor difficulty I had may be due to me being an idiot. Just bought this and played with it for a while. For the money a good DIY tool. Accurate when the level is set with bubbles but be careful - if you set it level and then swivel the head it (well mine at least) goes out of level quite a bit. After leveling (instrument on the kitchen table) with the beam horizontal to the floor, and then swiveling the head to get the horizontal line where I wanted it (further up the wall for pictures), I made a further fine adjustment by putting a spirit level along the laser line and adjusting the laser until it was perfectly aligned with the spirit level. A minor irritation and after it's re-leveled its great to mark level points along the wall.

Disappointed
Having had a simple hand-held laser level in the past (until invariantly broken) I bought the XP180 not realising that it wasn't an automatic level. Everything is levelled by built-in and very small spirit levels with levelling screws on each corner. All very fiddly and not very accurate. Altogether very poor so avoid. Alternatively use a good quality spirit level or invest in a better quality automatic laser level.

Stanly Laser Level
Used for lining lights in the ceiling & setting up a mirror. Great to achieve accurate line & level without any assistance. Easy to set up, fits on my camera tripod. Wish I had purchased it sooner.

Stanley Laser SSCL180
Went into B&Q to sort advice on a Laser, staff were very helpful and came away with the Stanley SSCL180. Best thing since sliced bread. Limitations, i found that it was hard to hold the level in position if you wanted to do a 360% turn on your work, however the laser has a screw position at bottom and that fits my camera tripod perfect. Harry

Excellent value and quality product.
Having googled various lasers and reviews, this one seemed to have good reviews and was a good price. In fact, I found most other places were selling this at almost twice the price. When it arrived, I was initially disappointed. It was much smaller than I'd expected. However, size doesn't matter (in this case). Having powered it up, I'm impressed by the accuracy and the power of the laser. I tried it at home in the evening, but with all the room lights on, and that's pretty bright. At 16 metres I still had a really bright line. OK, at that distance the line is getting wider, maybe 3 or 4 mm at that range, but even so, it's impressive. The rotating feet to set up the level are a tiny bit tricky, but ok if you take your time. The accuracy, again at 16 metres range, is pretty good. Within the lines of the bubble (and I deliberately tried varying at much as I could) I could only introduce an inaccuracy of 20mm. That sounds a lot, but that was deliberate, and at 16 metres away. Being careful, I reckon I could get a much more accurate line, maybe within 10mm at a 16 metre range. Overall, I'm impressed. Love it.

Great item that takes the guesswork out of your jobs. Wish I'd got one years ago.
