Check the bag

I brought 2 bags from one b&q and another from a different b&q if out side the damp gets to it and turns it hard so won't set right as all lumpy so got to pull the hard bits out, yet other bags were lovely no hard bits, can't get it smooth with the hard bits, wasn't impressed with the hard bags

50% success rate

Bought two bags of this product roughly two weeks apart. First bag was fine. Once i got the second bag home discovered it had already partially set in the bag, had to take it back, possibly a faulty batch maybe, bought a similar product different brand instead. So check the bag before buying in store.

Unfit for purpose

This product did not mix properly. Separated into grey water and sand. After 24 hours it was not even set properly so I’ve had to scrape it up and buy a different make.

Utter rubbish -doesn't level if used as instructed

Ran out of Mapei Ultraplan half way through a job so I tried this. Mixed to instructed proportions and seemed nice and liquid. But when poured it was hopeless at self-levelling. I had to remove it. Total waste of time and money. If using again I'd increase water to 6 or even 7 litres. But I'm not trying it again.

Perfectly smooth level floor

First time using this product and it worked perfectly. I used it in my kitchen on a very rough concrete floor to cover over an old sunken hearth prior to tiling. Height difference of over 20mm in places running out to a feathered edge. Cleaned down to bare concrete, vacuumed all the dust then epoxy primed. Mixed exactly as per the instructions on the bag, 5 litres of water to 25Kg, and this is the key - using a paddle mixer in the SDS drill to get a nice even mix. It does not need additional water if mixed correctly (it was too thin and settling out if I stopped mixing at approx. 20Kg to the 5 litres). I was only doing a small 5m2 area and found that it self levelled fast as I trowelled it out. I used 3 bags, mixed a bags worth at a time and poured it out as fast as I could mix it. It has set to a very nice smooth and perfectly level surface with no difference in finish between the thickest and thinnest areas and has bonded well to the old concrete.

Perfectly level floor

There is nothing wrong with this product, please do not blame it if you don't do the job properly. I have used countless bags of self leveling up to 200m2 on one job. You MUST prime the surface with the correct primer, not PVA or other rubbish. You MUST mix it with a paddle mixer in a proper leveling bucket, not a toy DIY drill with a tin mixer. You MUST use a spikey roller to take out the trowel marks and level the surface. DO NOT use more water in the mix, it is not necessary and only weakens the self leveling. DO NOT use on a wet floor, always check the moisture content and use a liquid DPM if required. Finally do not use over bitumen, old adhesive, Marley tiles etc there are specific self leveling compounds for these.

Big mistake

Used this “self levelling” product on my garage floor and it now looks like someone has tried to artex it!!! Bolder like lumps whilst in powder form, and burnt out a drill trying to mix! Honest guys - DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT it definitely doesn’t do what it says on the tin!

Works perfectly, provided you properly mix it!

Please ignore the negative reviews. I assume that they didn't mix the product correctly (a highly recommend using a paddle mixer attached to an electric drill) or didn't add the required amount of water. I would suggest adding slightly more water to a full bag than is suggested in the instructions; using 6 litres as opposed to 5 will give you a slightly thinner mixture, which will allow you more time to pour it, plus it will 'self-level' easier, meaning there should be little or no trowel work involved.

Worked a treat

Read instructions carefully (particularly after seeing reviews on this site). Made sure I found a suitable primer (had to buy from an alternative large DIY outlet). Made sure that I mixed properly using my drill and a suitable attachment. Leveller worked great, floor is a massive improvement. Left a perfect finish for adding a vinyl floor covering.
