Perfect Escape From Armed Home Invasion Criminals!

I loved the look and operation of a roof window as opposed to a skylight and am REALLY glad I had two 4'x4' roof windows installed. The easy opening allowed me to exit my home when armed criminals had made access to my home! (Police showed up in time to arrest them, phew!). Exiting Seattle as soon as possible and have already contacted someone about installing roof windows at the new location!

Very nice windows but a design flaw

These roof windows look great, open really easily, and are clad inside and out, so they shouldn't rot like wood does. However, the screen is not in close proximity to the window itself. Already there are leaves, etc. blowing in and resting on the bottom of the screen, which I have to clean out nearly every day. I can imagine a bird or squirrel falling into this "well" at some point. The screens seem flimsy and have to be opened carefully each time you want to open the window or raise or lower the shade; otherwise they almost come out of their track. With my previous Velux windows you could open them, or raise / lower the shade without moving the screen. But mostly, the idea of the soon-to-come avalanche of autumn leaves filling up the window well is daunting. We have lots of maple trees around the house. It's just odd Velux didn't think about this.

Its a quality built in to the product every time

I have been a carpenter for over 40 years. I have installed many competitors products that can't come close to what velux has achieved. The roof window, no matter what model, is a win win. They take the guess work out of flashing and make it simple. The unit comes with a pre-bent flashing kit that goes together like a simple puzzle. That makes your install that much more enjoyable. The only down side is that their product is not protected well, especially during shipping. The face of the unit only has two strips of foam, at the top & bottom. They should have a full piece of foam to cover the entire face of the unit because that's the most vulnerable. All aside you will be very pleased with your purchase.

RE: Mary Jane's post

Not sure what Mary Jane was expecting from Velux. Roofs are hot, direct sun is hot. Her dealer should have told her, in my opinion. Velux can't control where a window is installed. I have two GGL-1 skylites from 1984 and still love them.

Transform your finished attic

After buying a house with a mostly finished attic, the space was usable but dark and just not nice to be in. After deciding to put Velux’s largest roof windows in (GPU PK10) , my wife and I loved the open air feel of our third floor so much we decided to move our master bedroom up here. Gorgeous construction on velux products. And although I had to order these windows a few times to get on that wasn’t damaged in transit, the installation itself only took a few days with a Velux recommended 5-star installer. I can’t put a price on sleeping under the stars every night!

I love these windows

I've had these windows in my attic for years and I'm very happy that I put them in. Great sun and great ventilation.

Clarity & light together

We are a interior / exterior design and construction business and we recently installed this product into a clients home in Perth Western Australia. It was a fantastic choice. The clients split level dining/lounge had a very dark area on the upper level and this Velux roof window has created an entirely new atmosphere. The client is rapt and so are we!

simple elegant design and no leaks

Been in for a couple of seasons. Keeps clear and lets in plenty of light. It doesn't leak and operates smoothly. Finish is good and clean. Does its job with no hassle.

Great product!

Sturdy construction and beautiful. It is the first sky light in my house but won't be the last.
