Won't cut
The upper blade pushes onto a plastic part attached to the lower blade, and therefore you don't get any cutting from underneath. I thought it was some sort of protector to start with but looking at the picture it is part of the design. It stops the secateurs from being effective and you have to apply a lot of pressure to cut.

Good grip
Very pleased with the overall performance of these secateurs.

They clog up, becoming unusable until cleaned out.
They clog up, becoming unusable until cleaned out. They are therefore not asusable as other non-pypass secateurs and also not as useful as by-pass secateurs. The catch is not the easiest to operate. Grip OK Colouring renders it reasonably findable at the bottom of the wheelbarrow (or the bonfire pile).

Not very impressed I'm afraid,
Bought this about a month ago ready for gardening and this weekend struggled to even cut dead tulips as I think the blunt flat area with a groove prevents a clean cutting edge for the sharp blade to cut against. Also the locking mechanism seemed to regularly lock when I used it making me very frustrated . It may be because I am a left handed gardener it may not lock for a right handed person . Sorry to be so negative.
