Nice axe but not as effective
I bought it in order to chop a small tree in my garden it this is not very effective. It takes a lot of power to cut the tree with this axe.

Good little axe
Bought to chop out shrubs. Son used it and it did the job.

Unusual Christmas present?
This was a present for our son who has recently had a wood burning stove fitted in his house. He will get a lot of use from it!!

Useless
This is useless for the average user due to it being sold almost completely blunt. Avoid.

only buy if you're comfortable with sharpening
it can't be emphasised enough just how blunt this tool is from the shop. There's a facet of at least 1mm between the bevels. I clamped the hatchet to the bench and spent upwards of 40 minutes with a mill file to put the bevel on properly, then another 20 minutes with some good quality whetstones to give it a polish. To be clear, this is not like a normal new axe where sharpening just involves honing the bevel that's been ground from the factory; this is a fairly skilled process to do properly and I would not advise anyone to try it who does not know what they're doing; considering for an extra few quid, there's pre-sharpened axes on the shelf near this one. that being said, when I got this up and running it's a good little hatchet. The steel is okay. Not great for a forged tool (there are more than a few inclusions and the cutting edge is pretty brittle) but the handle is good quality. The grain is in the proper direction and when the varnish is stripped and replaced with boiled linseed oil, it's comfortable in the hand and feels solid. The axe's protective cover is a nice touch for a cheap axe, but frankly, I would rather the money have been spent by the factory taking another minute at the linisher to sort the bevel out. Rating 3/5 because it's a nice tool that I expect will last a long time, but let down by cutting corners in the factory that might flumox some amatuers.

Nice to mark the wood!
As someone else said its like a hammer. It marks the wook but doesnt cut into it at all ... I would have to have it sharpened as its not sharp enough ... I bought this new a few days ago and its rubbish ... what a waste of £10 ..

Excellent value
Had this little axe for nearly 2 years now and working well. Had to initially reshape cutting edge as angle to big to be an effective cutter plus was extremely blunt. However once this is done the steel holds the edge well needing maintenance only if doing heavy work. Would recommend this axe. Don't be put off by having to put a decent edge on it - this can be done in 30 min with a file and small wet-stone. Superb value

Nice handle but useless
Picked this up instore quickly whilst shopping for something else. Returned home to chop some kinderling etc. Useless. Blade is so blunt it would not bite into wood at all. Cutting edge is similar to a hammer! Don't think your getting a deal, spend a bit more cash. Only thing that is good is the handle but how many people check blade worst shopping. Ended using handle as firewood so at least got something out of it!!
