Leaky seal

Yes the waste trap is cheap, a pain in the backside to replace and annoyingly shorter than the one it is replacing but they do the job.
The plug and plug hole are sound.
The gripe is with the cheap as chips rubber seal that sits around the bath squeezed between the plug hole surround and the overflow connecting piece - it is thin and if you mastic it will tear if you need to take it off. I used plumbers mait on the plug hole but nothing underneath and it leaks - so guess I will have to mastic it and hope it holds...
Shocking

This product is beyond useless! I’ve been fitting baths for 15 years and this is by far the worst pop up bath waste I’ve come across. Looking now at previous reviews it’s clear b&q don’t care about customers feed back as it’s still on sale after 5 years of bad feed back.
Pop up waste with overflow and trap

I felt I should re review this product because I have now fitted it successfully but the crux of the matter is poor instructions. It is directly compatible to solvent welded pipe which has to be welded into the outlet adapter (You have to buy or supply the solvent as extra). I found that pipe for push fit fittings will not directly be able to be solvent welded into the adapter as the pipe is of a smaller diameter. If you want to use push fit fitting a compression elbow (1 1/2" size) will have to fitted between a small length of solvent pipe welded into the outlet adapter and standard pipe for push fit fittings. The seals and compression fittings of the trap etc. are flimsy when compared to say standard compression fittings and its easy to jump the threads if you ever tighten. It looks OK though and is working fine now.

complete failure

After a great deal of repeated effort I managed to get all of the joints watertight. But a month later the pressure from an emptying bath blew out the connection to the bottom of the overflow pipe - which is very flimsy - depositing the contents of the bath on the floor.
