Fused Switches
Isolating switches go by several names. They are also known as fused switches or fused connection units (FCUs) and are primarily used to create a fused spur in a ring circuit. A switched FCU is a switch where the cable to an integrated appliance is hard-wired and concealed in the wall (i.e. not plugged in to a socket). Simply put, they contain an in-built fuse for a hard-wired appliance. An isolated switch can be manually turned on and off, whilst the fuse will also act independently to cut off the power if it detects a current with an amperage greater than the fuse. Choose an isolator switch in the same colour and finish as other electrical fixtures in the room for a seamless look.
