Because I live in a cottage I purchased the solid wood doors because I would need to add or remove wood from all the doors I purchased. Fitting the doors mostly entailed removing wood from the top, sides and in two cases the middle. Although B&Q instructions recommended only a very little wood be removed so my greatest fear was either breaking the glass or ending up with some very expensive fire wood. The doors passed all my expectations in all respects. On one door I had to remove 301mm from its overall height, the door treated this way had wood removed from top, bottom and middle which left only 10mm above the glass and 10mm under the bottom panels and approximately 20mm in the middle. I performed this miracle by first removing a 20mm strip from the sides before removing the remaining wood then re-attaching the two strips to hold what remained of the door together with glue and screws. I expected all the glued joints to blow but only one showed any sign of doing so. This joint was re-glued and is now performing excellently. All of the seven doors I purchased took the wood stain I used perfectly and all look brilliant.
I do not recommend you to follow my example but I just had to let everybody know that it is possible to remove so much wood and still have a working door at the end of it.
nice door, but where was it made......?? see below

Bought 2 of these doors, no problem with the door or price paid, but WHY are they from South Africa ?? Surely FSC forests exist in abundance much, much nearer to the UK. This is just not necessary, and I would not have bought them if I'd have known - notice "Country of Origin" is not on the extensive spec above
Lovely door x

I bought this door and it came damaged, my replacement door after having to chase it up also then came damaged. After not having a door on for over 2 weeks we put it on and emailed customer service for a discont. Recieved nothing back. Driver made fun of our surname too.
