Allow 2 hours to assemble No predrilled holes.

Looks lovely once assembled and good quality but needs to be made much clearer how hard this is to put together. It states self assembly with two people. I assumed that meant I with my teenage son and an electric screwdriver could put it together. However, there are no predrilled holes and it took a professional builder TWO HOURS to assemble it, not to mention the cost this added to the purchase. It was good value until this and that explains my "poor" rating for value.
looks great fixed to the front gate

I got this for my front gate at the side of my house so I could have climbing plants growing over it and it looks great as it is.

Poor quality wood. Splits and cracks in most pieces. Major split in one of the uprights, which we didn't notice until we were assembling it & my husband had to fix with wood glue and screws. Some prices were warped making assembly difficult.

I bought this a few weeks ago. In case you don't know it's made by Rowlinson. Today weather and handyman have come together and it was assembled with the help of his wife. It took 3.5 hrs (2 people) to erect and secure. There were NO fixings in the packaging so went and bought all the necessary screws. Apart from that it was relatively easy to put together - you need a tape measure and pencil as there are no pre-drilled pilot holes (although the Rowlinson Swing Seat we built last year had pre-drilled pilot holes - but a much more complex construction). I eMailed B&Q support to find out how to anchor it as the 'stubby feet' will not fit into a Metapost, and they recommended L-shaped brackets; we used them and "concrete screws" to fix to the 'slabs'. Can also recommend the limestone stepping stones as an easy way to create a path and then infill with slate/other chippings.
Shame the screws weren't included as specified, but only cost £4. Ground fixings about £15. It looks great and perfect alongside the Rowlinson wooden swing seat. Really pleased with the overall effect and looking forward to growing some climbers over it ... or may be just leave it as it is.

Superbly made, a doddle to fit together and looks stunning in my garden. It will last for years.
