Features and benefits

Non-structural flooring boards for creating a new floor over existing flooring

  • The long sides should be laid at 90 degrees to the joists & the ends should always meet on a joist. Floor board joints should be staggered for greater strength
  • Fix panels in place with screws. Each screw should be countersunk & a pilot hole drilled as this makes fixing the boards easier & takes the heads of the screws below the level of the floor
  • Do not be tempted to join boards between joists as they will soon sag & cause a weak spot in the floor. We recommend using screws rather than nails as excessive hammering could disrupt plasterboard below

If i was to do a loft again i would spend the extra on the OSB boards.. theyre alot stronger and easier to put down.
These chipboard are ok once theyre down, boce and solid. The edges however are really britel and just break for fun, takes alot of messing about dressing the edges to get them together..

Solid but expensive

I’ve used these to board my loft and found them easy to work with and solid. A few had damage to the “tongue” and needed cleaning up before they would slot into the groove but I guess that’s the nature of chipboard. I think these are expensive, I know the cost of wood (and chipboard in particular) has gone up but I wouldn’t say these were great value for money, I think they could be sold cheaper.

Just what I needed

I was after some wood to repair some broken flooring at home, this was ideal as I didn't require full size boards.
