Leaking Toilet Repairs
zebedee69 - 3 years ago
Having had problems with my toilet getting blocked, I removed the cistern & pedestal to find that the outlet & the soil pipe mouth were almost filled with solid limescale one inch thick. I removed it , & went to B & Q for a spare donut washer which goes between the cistern & the pedestal, & was pleased with the selection. I bought one, fitted it & reassembled the toilet. It is now flushing correctly. I also bought some Brick & Patio cleaner which contains hydrochloric acid, & treated my downstairs toilet leaving it overnight. I'm sure it has removed the limescale from that toilet, hopefully job done. Thanks.
Did the job for a 1 1/2" waste and 8cm pan hole

I purchased this on the off chance I would need it (thinking that my cistern syphon and flushing device came with a small foam one, turns out I needed this donut as the 2 provided with the syphon flush device were for different size wastes on the inside of the cistern. I was a bit concerned initially as the one on took out during repair was foam and the recess in the pan was only 8cm across. this was about 10. The flush device waste tail was 1 1/2" inches though which this is for. However I found that in installed this with flat side to the cistern and rounded edge in the 8cm recess and it sat will once hold down bolts were done up. It's very early days as installation only 3 hours finished and (more importantly for this product) I have only flushed 5 or so times to test no leakage form the donut, but so far so good.
