I've bought other older models and still use these. I found the controls on this one were very and nasty cheap-feeling. But the unit just didn't cool all that much. I ran it for an hour and it only cooled the room a few degrees. I then used an older B&Q machine that I have, which instantly cooled the room 4 degrees more. It doesn't display what it thinks the room temperature is, so you can't tell what it thinks it is doing. Mine shut off the chiller quite quickly, when it certainly wasn't 16 degrees. It certainly was not doing 9,000 BTU of cooling. I may just have got a duff one, but I won't buy another - I suspect it's poor quality. Full marks to B&Q for accepting the return with no fuss.

The unit was great but when we opened the box it was clear it had been dropped - there was crack in the casing and bits had chipped off the vent so the flaps were damaged. Had to take it back to the shop which was difficult as it was so heavy and then was told that we couldn't exchange it for a new one as it was out of stock in the store, we couldn't even get a new replacement ordered in. Very very disappointing.

The BTU is too low

I needed an AC to cool my home office but this unit is not powerful enough and didn't cool the room. I have since learned that 4,500 BTU is very low power and so I sent this unit back and am going to buy a 7,000 BTU unit elsewhere

It works really well

I must admit I didnt think it worked too well at first, but then realised you have to manually open up the air vents. Then it lets out lots of cool air, it doesnt say that in the manual. I put it on for a few hours then turn it off and close the window to keep the hot air out if its still hot outside. Drops the temperature by over two degrees in that time, which make a big difference it feels like walking into a fridge :)

What do I need to extend/change hose longer?
