We were looking for a 'granite effect' worktop but didn't have the budget. Hi-MACS is a fantastic alternative to laminate, allowing a kitchen fitter or even someone with good DIY skills to achieve a professional result. Cutting and polishing for an under-mount sink with drainage grooves needed careful use of a router but was straightforward and could be done in place, unlike quartz or granite. Making a good join was probably easier than laminate.
