Sumbodie - 1 month ago

There are several things I really like about this tape measure. Firstly the auto locking feature seems a much better design than conventional tape measures. When you pull out the tape measure it stays in that position. There is no need to press a lock or button to keep it out. This is much simpler. On other tape measures I've found that button often requires some force to get it to lock the tape. The button on this one does just one thing. It retracts the tape. There is a second button underneath but this is simply a different way to do the same thing. The top button you use your thumb. The bottom you use your index finger.

The blade seems decent quality. It's 25mm (1 inch) wide with nice clear numbers, both inches and centimetres/millimetres. This definitely advantageous for those of us with less than perfect eyesight. The underside is also numbered but this time vertically so it's easier to read when taking measurements vertically. There are two hooks on the end of the blade, a smaller one pointing up and a broader one pointing down. The standout of mine (how far it will go horizontally without collapsing) is 2.2m. This is not as far as the bigger 32mm measures which often go well over 3m but then those like the DeWalt or Stanely FatMax typically cost about 3 times the price.

Finally the body feels nice and robust. The outer has a very slightly soft texture which may help if dropped. It looks and feels well made. I can't comment on the reliability of the tape measure as I've only just bought it but hopefully if it's look and feel reflect it's resilience I'm hoping it will last a long time. I considered getting the smaller Stanley tapes which were 2 for £10. But looking at them they're nowhere near the quality of this one. All in all for £8 I think it's great value for money.
