The sun builds up in the solar panel and powers the pump when during sunlit hours. As the power builds up the batteries retain power so it can be used when the sun disappears. The fountain set comes with 4 different heads to create a selection of displays, and an LED ring that sits at the top to create a cozy atmosphere.
