This light oak interior varnish from the Ronseal Interior diamond hard range can be applied to interior using a brush. The varnish dries in just 20 minutes and will cover up to 24 m² per litre on average.
- Gives great protection against knocks, scuffs and scratches
- Surface Preparation - Ensure the room is warm and ventilated. To prepare the wood for varnishing, give the surface a wipe down with a cloth and white spirit to remove wax, grease, dirt and oil. Use 120 grit sandpaper to give the surface a quick sand and smooth out any rough patches. If the wood has an old coating on it, sand away the peeling, loose and flaking bits so the surface is even. Let the dust settle and wipe it away with a damp cloth. Leave the wood to dry thoroughly before varnishing.
- Instructions for Use - Give your varnish a stir, and test the colour on a hidden patch to make sure you’re happy with it. It may darken your wood slightly but it should bring out its natural colour. If you’re happy with how it looks, apply an even layer of the varnish painting in the direction of the woodgrain. Wait one hour for the coat to dry. You will need two to three coats for complete coverage and protection. Before you apply your final coat (whether that’s the second or third), sand down the surface and wipe the dust off with a cloth. This will help your final coat stick smoothly and will give you a perfect finish.

What it says on the tin!
This varnish did the job perfectly on my newly built bespoke shelves, it dried quickly so I was able to get the second coat done and thereby complete the job efficiently. The colour is true and is exactly what I'd hoped for.

Mixed results
I have used Ronseal products for years getting great results with Clear satin and Medium Oak on New and old wood. In my current project, I ha e again a mix of sanded old timber and new. ALL timber has been sanded, filled and cleaned with spirit. When you open the tin, the varnish is GREEN. This is pigment. The OLD timber is fine....results are brilliant....the green pigment does not show at all and wood has a nice sheen. The new timber is a DISASTER. Green hue has faded but varnish is CANARY YELLOW. Am currently sanding it all OFF. Back to clear me thinks

Doesn't protect like it should
After doing 3 coats as directed for extra protection, it looked great at first, maybe a little yellow, but dulled down after a while. 4 months in, we've had dents appear from dropping small items, chair legs leaving imprints in the wood (even with using felt protectors) and cat scratches appear. The varnish has even worn down in certain areas. It's not hard wearing or protective at all. Definitely doesn't do what it says on the tin. Disappointed considering how long it took to sand down the whole floor and waste a day waiting for 3 coats of varnish to dry.

This product worked well.
This was easy to apply. Being quick dry, you do need to get your finish right and then leave it alone, otherwise you will disturb the finish.

Don’t buy this for floors!
I covered three rooms in this. Then my son spilled a drink on the floor and it stained it! No protection at all from spills!

soft wood stairs looks great
great result, given stairs a number of coats and rubbed down with wire wool. found it to be cheaper elsewhere despite using diamond over 60 card.
